The "Inside a Box" evening is comprised of four chamber works by Shlomit Fundaminsky composed between 2004 and 2007.

The evening includes the works "Inner Pocket" (2004), "Skid Marks (2005), "Inch" (2007) and "Waiting" (2007).

These works come together to present a single narrative. It is a psychological portrait of characters struggling with life's absurd existence, which they themselves create. The characters deal with breaking out of existing frameworks, with fictional worlds, which they construct and demolish with the help of their bodies, with expectations and the creation of temporary steps that enable them to exist.

The four works present a new language for creating situations, worlds and images through a unique language of movement that combines the Lecoq physical theatre language with contemporary dance.

From the reviews

"Fundaminsky's language of movement is very physical and fascinating as a result of its search for beauty in what is perceived as ugly. It is a successful attempt by an uninhibited creator who does not fear highlighting weaknesses, thus making the work human and impressive".

(Merav Yudelevich, Ynet)

"Shlomit Fundaminsky surprises with her dance and acting abilities, in presenting changing moods in one movement, in a complete and mature work."

(Gaby Aldor, Ha'ir)

"Shlomit Fundaminsky's ‘In an Inner Pocket' is a work rich in imagination, drama and humor".

(Zvi Goren, Habama)

Performance duration: One hour
No. of dancers: Three
Minimal stage dimensions: 9 x 7 meters.

Each of the works can be booked separately:

"Inch"

Fifteen minutes, one dancer, stage dimensions: 7 x 7 meters.

Creator Shlomit Fundaminsky presents a solo performed by Tali Peretz-Laor (2007). Fragments of vague childhood memories, femininity and motherhood in an empty world, where everything is taken and nothing remains standing. A woman sits looking for room to move.

"Inner Pocket"

Fifteen minutes, one dancer, stage dimensions: 9 x 7 meters.

A solo performed by Shlomit Fundaminsky. The work was created for Curtain Up, 2004 and gained second place in the 10 Masdansa international dance solo competition in the Canary Islands and was invited to appear together with Belgian choreographer Wim Wandkaibos' company in Lyon, France, and Porto, Portugal.

"Shlomit Fundaminsky has created a psychological portrait of a woman that transforms before our eyes; sometimes it seems that her head is growing out of her chest and does not rise above her neck, as it does with most people. This endows the dance with a caricatural character, and the dancer/creator's remarkable technical ability reinforces this special solo".

(Giora Manor, Israeldance)

"Skid Marks"

Twenty minutes, two dancers, stage dimensions: 9 x 7 meters.

A duet by dancer/creator Shlomit Fundaminsky and dancer Diola Chuckberi, in collaboration with dramaturge Shira Mintzer. It was first performed at Curtain Up 2005, and also at "Images of the Middle East" in Denmark, and the Dublin Fringe Festival.

A night in which different figures are resurrected in one body. A duet combining the language of contemporary dance with that of the Lecoq physical theatre.

"Fundaminsky's work is superbly performed by the creator and the dancer, Diola Chuckberi".

(Ruth Eshel, Ha'aretz)

"Waiting"

A solo performed by Shlomit Fundaminslky that premiered at the Intimadance Festival at the Tmuna Theatre in 2007.

"A persistent spotlight illuminates  unforgettable reality. A point in time to which life flows with surprising clarity. She examines the language of the body, allows it to tell a story, to talk about the moment in which world order changes".
