Abigail Rubin
Choreographer, director and dancer.
Awarded the 2004 Ministry of Culture award for up and coming choreographer.
Choreographer, dancer and Dance Major Coordinator at Dror Experimental Educational Campus.
Graduated with a B.A in Choreography from the Academy of Theatre and Dance (SNDO), Amsterdam.
Graduated with a B.A in Dance and a Teaching Diploma from The Kibbutzim College of Education.
An independent choreographer since 2004. Among her work: “The Servants” for Israel festival, “Default Solo”, “In Four Moves” – a trio act featuring Eldad Ben Sasson, Abigail and her father, Herold Rubin, premiered at the 2005 Batsheva Dance Company Creators festival. Theatre choreographer: “The Duchess of Malfi” Haifa theatre, “Dibukim” Habima theatre. She was a founding member of the Dancers’ union and a member of the choreographers’ association.
Since 2008 she has partnered in creation with Yoav Bartel. In 2010 they founded the Homemade ensemble.
Yoav Bartel
Actor, playwriter and theater director.
Graduated from the Drama Department at Kibbutzim College of Education.
Wrote and plays in “Hamarkid” show, winner of the 2010 Golden Porcupine award for Best Show, Best Play and Best Playwriter.
Participated in numerous theatres plays such as: “Street Cat”, “Taxi”- Habima, “Mazritz” Tzavta Theater, TV shows such as: “Until the Wedding”, “Battle on the Way to Jerusalem”. Wrote and produced the show “Bamakel Basargel” (Stick and Ruler). Dramaturg for the Kamea Dance Company show “Status”.
Performs regularly as part of “The Three Improves” by the Improve Theatre.
Teaches theatre at “Mooza” High School and Improve Theater.
Artistic Director for the 2016 Acco Fringe Festival.
A member of EVE (Independent Theatre and Performance Art Creators Organization). Creating with his partner, Abigail Rubin since 2008.
Mutual works
2020 will premier two original productions, a dance production and a children’s show. “Amodo” – a dance that deals with feminine impasse. “Hachashmelator” – a wild children show with original score.
In 2018 they created “13 Fragments” – imitating the aesthetics of the 1994 “Cave of Patriarchs” massacre.
In 2017 they created “Drop Dead”, a three acts theatre event, examining the force of hatred, the easiness in which it sparks and the difficulty to distinguish it. The production skips between three genres, theater, dance and satire.
In 2016 they created the dance “Judoka”, a street and stage performance produced for a special project in conjunction with Rimon School of Music and Acco Fringe Festival.
In 2015 they created the show “Yabalek” – a trilogy of fear. Winner of the 2015 best show, best choreography, best stage and costume design at the Acco Fringe Festival.
At 2014 they created the solo act “Under the Skin” based on Mrs. Lea Fletcher workout exercises from the 1950’s.
In 2012 they wrote and directed “Kasadea” with the support of the Cultural Administration of Tmu-na theatre.
In 2011 they produced the dance show “Aleihum” created for a site specific performance – a school gym.
In 2010 the two created the show “Hamarkid”, winner of the 2010 Golden Porcupine award for Best Show, Best Play and Best Playwriter. The show aired for 110 times throughout the country. Furthermore, the show participated in Radikal jung festival in Munich, TEATROMANIA festival in Poland, and showcased in London, New York, Berlin, Kiel (Germany), Czech Republic and Turkey. They also created the street performance “Two Chinese” (Shnaim Sinim) for the Acco Fringe Festival.
In 2009, Abigail and Yoav staged the show “Corrective Eexperience” at the Acco Fringe Festival and won the commendation award.
In 2008 they created the show “Hummus, chips, salad” for the Acco Fringe Festival. This guest performance runs successfully to this day.
