Rescue is a dance of politics, an endless preparation drill for an inevitable disaster. It takes place in the aftermath of an unknown scenario, while the ruins are also used as it’s surface. Rescue is an exercise of life-saving and a street party, celebrating the intimacy that can be created between human bodies

This choreography of extrication is an extension of useful and familiar movements that are usually practiced in sites of mass casualty. Disconnected from threat or trauma, the carefully synchronized set of movements evoke a sense of togetherness that binds passersby and performers, somewhere between danger and compassion

A new durational version of the action Rescue was specially developed for Aarhus as part of European Cultural Capital events. For four hours each day at the Pustervig Torv a new state-ballet will be performed
